External roller shutters
External roller shutters cover the opening with interlocking slats that roll into a headbox. Their outside mounting makes the building’s fixing surfaces, access and appearance important parts of choosing the product.

- Check where the headbox and guides will sit and whether they affect the opening or external fittings.
- Discuss access and emergency exit needs for the window. Ask for documented ratings if your project requires a specific security, fire or acoustic performance.
Are external roller shutters the same as indoor roller blinds?
No. A roller blind uses fabric inside the room; this shutter uses an external slatted assembly with guides and a headbox. Compare the installation and operation as well as light control.
